A Virtual 5K Event to Rally Support of Children and Families

Bill & Carolyn Curry, Honorary Chairs of the Founder’s Day 5K

Wellroot Family Services celebrates our 150th anniversary of the founding of The Decatur Orphans’ Home, now Wellroot Family Services. This year we will kick off Founder’s Week with The Founders Day 5k, chaired by Bill & Carolyn Curry, on Saturday, May 1st. Let us celebrate virtually, as you walk or run in unity with your church, neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family, to help raise funds and awareness for the needs of children and families at Wellroot.

“We love Wellroot because it provides families for those who need them most. We have spent our lives in team sport, and have seen firsthand what happens in children’s lives when they are accepted into a loving team environment. Differences dissolve, and we belong…to each other! Race, national origin, religion, and politics are replaced with familial acceptance, respect, love, and a sense of belonging.” – Bill & Carolyn Curry

The Founder’s Day 5K

The Founder’s Day 5K is not your average virtual 5K event. We invite you to be a part of a 6-week journey as we prepare the mind, body, and soul with a run and walking training program, fun challenges, meaningful devotions, and stats about the children you are running for. You can make the race your own, by running, walking, or adjusting the distance, all to help children in Georgia.

The Mustard Seed 1K

Our children’s Mustard Seed 1K gives children an enriching opportunity to learn about the importance of helping children and families in needhow to actively support the children & families at Wellroot, and celebrating on May 1st by running the Mustard Seed 1K.

How can I support if I am not interested in walking or running?

Anyone can start a fundraiser, even if you do not run or walk you can help raise awareness for the needs of children and familiesYour gift helps open doors and change lives. When you contribute to Wellroot, you can be sure that 100% of your donation is spent in service of young people and families throughout Georgia who need critical care, expert support or simply the everyday basics that make a house a home.

Thank you to our faithful sponsors!
